Represent & Art Hop!

Oak Tree Views
11"h x 4"w
watercolor and ink

I've decided on this piece for my Represent submission.  Represent, is a group show
in the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery during the month of Art Hop (September) which
features one piece of work from each artist in the collective.  The piece the
artist chooses to submit should represent their style as an artist.
Oak Tree Views will be matted, framed and priced at $175.
Smaller bookmark versions of this piece will be
available in my studio space for $3.

Don't miss Art Hop!!!

Trying to Decide on an Entry...

I need to decide on an illustration to submit to S.P.A.C.E.'s Art Hop
show, Represent.  The show is a collaboration of all the artist's in the
collective and the piece I submit should represent my style of work.

Here's my options thus far:

Union Station, BTV
watercolor and ink

Cute Things Do Happen at ESOX!
watercolor and ink

I am working on another illustration as we speak that might be in the
running as well....more to come tomorrow.

Birch Tree Painting

A perfectly round piece of birch bark.  The rotted away interior of the tree shook out
when I picked it up.  After it was scrubbed and dried I covered it in an orange
acrylic wash then a bright yellow acrylic wash even watery than the first coat.
My end goal: a lampshade.

This small birch painting is the start of a 4 piece series.

Birch Preparation

My new favorite canvas...birch bark.  Took sometime this past weekend to collect
a few new pieces for painting.

(above: the new collection laid out and a well deserved after bike ride beer)

(above: clean and drying in the sun)

To prepare them for paint I scrubbed them clean with a sponge and hot water.
They are not as fragile as they would seem and it's amazing how white they
are once the dirt and green moss is removed.

Opening this Friday....

August Art Auction
The Dog and Pony Show

Check out my artwork at the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery all this month.
In the front gallery is the annual August Art Auction for which I
donated  How-to-PB Cups (shown below).

It's matted and framed and can be bid on via website or in person.
So click HERE or come down to the Soda Plant in person during
gallery hours!

In the Backspace (an extension of the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery) is
The Dog and Pony Show, a tribute to the traveling circuses of
the past that featured dogs and ponies as their main attraction.
And the main attraction of this guessed it...
dogs and ponies!!
My puppies, Penny & Jada, made the cut so stop in
and check out their beautiful faces in Sunny Day and
Dog in a Cone (shown below)
