Attention Fellow Artists!

The A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn, NY (the 1st women run gallery in the U.S.!!) is doing a postcard art show to benefit the gallery.  It's open to anyone that is willing to donate a 4x6 card with their artwork on it which they will show and sell to raise money to cover gallery related costs.  Not only it is for a good cause, it's great publicity too as anyone who attends the show will receive a program that lists all the artists that participated.  Who can resist their name in print?!

Here's my submission, which I'm mailing out today:

The postmark deadline is coming up on June 4th, so if you're interested check out the artist's call on A.I.R.'s page and start creating!!  Maybe we'll run into each other at the opening.

A work in progress..

Here's a glimpse at an acrylic painting of Albany, NY in the 1970s
that I am working on at my studio space.

I realized the only picture I had posted of my studio was bare and empty.
I painted the shelving and moved my things in over a month ago.
Finally, yesterday, I had the chance to hang up the paintings I had brought
down and I officially feel like I am finished moving in!!

Also, please check out S.P.A.C.E.'s website as I am now included
on the Artist's page (scroll down) as a member of the collective.

El Gato and an Invite

Sometimes I cat sit this guy, Paver, owned by the metal sculptor whom I work for.
During my visits he runs back and forth between his food dish and the couch,
overwhelmed by the decision of whether he would rather have attention or eat.

And speaking of cats.....Kat Clear (with a "k"), the keeper of this lovely feline
and my boss, is having an Open Shop Day with her studio mate and
fellow sculptor, Kate Pond.  I had the opportunity to design the cards for the event.
Everyone's welcome, so if you're in the area stop by and
check out some sweet artwork!

New Business Cards!

In need of a new look for my business card I sliced up images from a
short cartoon I illustrated titled A Day in the Life.

Illustration with words.

The words made me think of an illustration so I combined the two.
I set myself against this photograph I accidentally took while I was walking.
It was in my hand by my side so as a result appeared Fish eyed.

I simplified the original photo, removing some elements and switched
the time of day to night.
