Countdown: 2 Days Until Christmas!

Looks like the weather-people were right.  Burlington got a dusting of snow
just in time for the holidays.  I'm making the drive to NY tomorrow so I would
have been happy with the 40 degree weather we had been getting all week.
Oh well :)

Countdown: 4 Days Until Christmas!

The nice thing about dog cookies is they don't get stale as quickly as their
people counterparts so you can make them earlier in the week.

This year I made dog bones for Jada and Penny.  They loved them...

but they are not very picky.

Their buddy Brutus will be the real test.  This tin is for him.

And the were sooo easy! Here's how:

Peanut Butter Bones

1/4 c. peanut butter (I use creamy.)
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 c. water
2 1/4 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. oatmeal

Combine peanut butter, oil and water in a large bowl.  Slowly mix in flour and
oatmeal until combined.  Roll dough to 1/4" thickness and cut with cookie cutter.
On an ungreased cookie sheet, bake at 375 degrees for 35 mins.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen.

I cooked them on the top rack and put them on a non-stick baking sheet and
they came out great.  If they are too thick they will not turn as crispy but still eatable.

Countdown: 5 Days Until Christmas!

I had all the intentions to get a real tree this year but it got later and
later and now there's no time left.  Alas I decided to settle with decorating
the houseplants.  I'll be traveling home on Christmas Eve, so this will
have to suffice until then.

It's about time I posted some art...

I've been super busy with art this month but my blog doesn't reflect it.
As much as I want to post the Christmas presents I just framed I'll have to
settle with these ink and colored pencil sketches I made as rough ideas
for a book I'm illustrating.

burrowing bugs.

opps! dropped it.

and a carrot.

signs of spring.

I finished up my holiday work early so I've been able to leisurely work on
some projects that have been on the back burner for the last few months.
More to come soon!

Extra, Extra! I got some press!!

or at least my studio did when S.P.A.C.E. was highlighted in UVM's
student newspaper, The Cynic, for their participation in December's
Holiday Hop!  It's small but that's my name in print :)

To big to scan I photographed my latest illustration with my
not so high-quality smart phone.

A matt and a frame and this piece will be headed to the Granger

Coffee Anyone?

Turkish coffee involves heating up the finely ground beans in a small
pot.  Sugar can be added to your taste as it is brewed, but I preferred adding
half a sugar cube after. Often it is served with a treat, such as this jellied
fruit candy covered in ground nuts and powered sugar.

The alternative is instant coffee, as traditional American
drip coffee is not drank in these parts for the world.

to soon...?

In preparing for an upcoming Halloween show I couldn't help
but reminisce about my grade school Halloween parades.
It's one of my favorite holidays and I already have costume ideas
in the works!

A special THANK YOU! to all the people that came out to
Art Hop this year.  The weekend was a huge success!
Thanks again to everyone who bought my art, I hope that
you enjoy the new edition to your art collection.
I had plenty of time to check out the other artists' works and
also purchased a new piece for my apartment.
I feel more inspired then ever to create after 2 days of gallery hopping!

Happy Belated Birthday Grampy!

Saturday was my Grandfather's birthday and although I called and wished him a
good one I never sent a card.  I figure if it's going to be late then it better be worth it,
so I drew him one inside of the usual store buy.
